ONE FOREST AT A TIME
OUR VISION
With partnerships with corporates and ministries, Target15SG aims to become a responsible steward of philanthropic mini forests, a trusted advocate of sustainability, and a proactive catalyst of positive impact. We aim to address climate and nature issues, holistic education, and global and public health. Our mini forests showcase and scale innovative climate solutions, spotlighting Singapore in the fight against climate change.
OUR JOURNEY
Since 2020, we have adopted a structured approach on the twin pillars of education and sustainability to give back to communities
OUR OBJECTIVES
ARE IN LINE WITH...
CITY IN NATURE
"We will set aside 50% more land – around 200 hectares – for nature parks. Every household will live within a 10-minute walk of a park. By planting one million more trees across our island, which will absorb another 78,000 tonnes of CO2, we will enjoy cleaner air, and cooler shade.
With more green spaces, there will be more wildlife amongst us – from migratory birds and hornbills, to otters and mousedeers. But some animals may get into conflict with people too. We will be working with communities and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to develop programmes to allow humans and wildlife to live in harmony. By 2030, Singapore will be a green and beautiful City in Nature."
GOAL 15: LIFE ON LAND
"Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss.
As the world responds to and recovers from the current pandemic, it will need a robust plan for protecting nature, so that nature can protect humanity."

OUR MISSION
To plant and nurture 150,000 trees over five years to complement Singapore’s mission of 1,000,000 more trees by 2030
MISSION: CREATING NET ZERO GENERATIONS
Our Goal: Establishing Mini Forests with soil restoration using diverted food and green waste within schools, urban living, and work environments through nature-based solutions and proactive actions
WHY PLANT TREES / MINI FORESTS
Why Mini Forests?
Carbon Absorption: Forests and their soils have the unparalleled ability to absorb and store carbon from the atmosphere, reducing greenhouse gases and combating climate change.
Productivity: We maximize the productivity of marginalized land through restoration and sustainable management.
Natural Regulation: By establishing natural and ecological systems, we help regulate the Earth's climate, enhance biodiversity, and create spaces for communities to enjoy.
The Value of Forests
Climate Mitigation: Forests do more than just store carbon; they prevent land degradation and mitigate climate change.
Carbon Capture: Trees and soils are nature's most effective tools for capturing and storing carbon. Photosynthesis is a proven, low-cost method that utilizes solar energy to sustain this process.
Mini Forests' Impact
Energy-Free Growth: Mini forests grow and propagate without any energy input.
Carbon Storage: Annually, the average tree captures and stores 10 kg of carbon during its first 20 years. (Precise figures needed)
Soil Carbon: The tree's root system stores twice this amount of carbon in the soil. (Precise figures needed)
Environmental Maintenance
Air Quality: Improving air quality.
Temperature Control: Reducing temperatures.
Carbon Levels: Lowering carbon levels.
Noise Pollution: Decreasing noise pollution.
Climate Resilience: Mitigating the effects of rising temperatures, stabilizing sea levels, and reducing threats to food and water safety, as well as supply chains.
Advancing Capabilities
Our initiative seeks to advance capabilities and prepare Singapore's workforce and organizations for a changing world. We support skills development, scholarships, and fellowships, celebrating Singapore's past, present, and future generations.
Amplifying Impacts Through Philanthropic Capital
Impact Enterprises: We also seek a pilot funding scheme to support our efforts to achieve social objectives sustainably. By providing grants and mentorship, we empower our stakeholders and communities to achieve self-sufficiency and long-term impact.
Strengthening Accountability Through Impact Measurement
Impact Measurement Framework: With corporate support, we seek to develop our mini forests to become carbon sinks/credits, creating an Impact Measurement and Management framework to link desired outcomes with programme activities, ensuring our mini forests make a meaningful difference. This enhances clarity, accountability, and better outcomes for the various stakeholders and communities.
Doing Good in Our Communities
Local Support: We seek responsible corporate citizens to fund and support through donations and staff volunteerism.
Taking Action Against Climate Change
We have limited time to address climate change, and we possess a proven solution ready to be scaled up. By deploying this solution in our schools, we can accelerate the learning and collaborative process among our students, equipping them with the global tools and knowledge needed to make our world a better place to thrive in.
The Miyawaki Technique
The Miyawaki Technique is a groundbreaking methodology that has been successfully implemented worldwide, regardless of soil and climatic conditions. With over 3,000 forests created globally, this technique stands as a testament to its efficacy.
Key Benefits:
• Increased Density: Forests created using the Miyawaki Technique are up to 30 times denser than conventional plantations.
• Noise and Dust Reduction: These forests provide 30 times better noise and dust reduction.
• Carbon Dioxide Absorption: They absorb up to 30 times more carbon dioxide compared to monoculture plantations.
• Maintenance-Free: After the first three years, these forests are completely maintenance-free, wild, and native.
• Chemical-Free: The Miyawaki forests are free from chemicals and chemical fertilizers, ensuring they sustain themselves and support local biodiversity.
Our sustainable initiatives is not only to safeguard the planet but also ...
to nurture communities
WE COLLABORATE,
WE ENGAGE
with Patrons to sponsor the planting of 150,000 trees
with schools so as to enable the students to receive valuable lessons and experiences in cultivating and nurturing a tree from seedling to sapling while simultaneously imparting critical life traits such as patience , mindfulness, kindness, responsibility and self esteem.
with Social Agencies to enhance socio – economic programmes. Benefitting the underprivileged and underserved communities in Singapore
TARGET 15
HOW IT WORKS
1
Planting Mini Forests: A Collaborative Effort Between Schools, Commercial Properties, and Patron Sponsors
Patron Sponsorship and Contribution
Patrons sponsor and contribute to Target 15, initiating a new life cycle for a tree that counts towards their goals and Singapore’s goal of planting one million more trees by 2030. This contribution also supports the creation of carbon sinks, where trees absorb carbon dioxide through photosynthesis, helping to mitigate climate change.
2
School Engagement
and Sapling Pledge

Schools receive a pledge for every viable sapling. At the end of each harvesting period, the saplings will be collected by volunteers, students, communities, and the Target 15 crew, and the respective schools will receive a contribution for each viable sapling. Schools have full discretion over how to utilize these funds.
3
Educational Experience, Creation of Mother Forests, and Career Awareness

Start-up seeds are entrusted to schools, providing students with hands-on experience in nurturing seeds to saplings. Schools receive between 400 to 800 seedlings every six months to cultivate during the harvesting period. As these seedlings mature, they contribute to the creation of "mother forests," which serve as vital sources for harvesting seeds and seedlings, further supporting the establishment of additional mini forests elsewhere. Additionally, students are introduced to green and sustainability careers, raising awareness and inspiring future professionals in these critical fields. The process also includes soil improvement through the layering of natural food and garden waste compost, enriching the soil and supporting healthy plant growth.
